Visiting: 3 Ancient cities of Ephesus, Miletos and Didyma

Duration: 9 hours

As you exit Kusadasi Harbour, please locate your specific guide who will be holding a name card for easy recognition. You professional local guide will be showing you some sites of great antiquity today that date back to 6th Century B.C. and used to be thriving populated towns.

Ephesus
You will visit one of the largest ancient Roman cities of its time – Ephesus. This city once housed over 200,000 people and you will marvel at the pristine, intact relics that are still left standing today. You will visit the Temple of Hadrian, walk down the long main road of town towards the impressive Celsius Library and also visit the Odeon. If you wish to visit the Terraced Houses of Ephesus, this has an extra cost of 15 USD per person.

Miletos

Miletos was once one of the greatest and wealthiest cities of its time. It dates back to around the 6th Century B.C., although the exact time of when this city was established is unknown due to the increase of sedimentation over the area. There are many ruins still intact for your visit today. You will get to see the Delphinion, the Amphitheatre and the Bath of Faustina. This City is also famous in the New Testament as it is said that the Apostle Paul passed through the harbor at one time during his journeys.

Didyma

Didyma was a popular town to visit due to the very famous Temple of Apollo. It was the most important temple of its time and attracted people from near and far to come. The temple took almost 200 years to build and later in Byzantine times a church was built upon its foundations. So today when you go to visit you will get to marvel at both of these magnificent structures.

NOTE!
Do not miss a chance to visit the Terrace Houses section which is located inside the Ancient Ruins of Ephesus and has an extra entrance fee - 15 USD per person. "The houses of the rich Romans", the oldest building, dates back to the 1st century BC until the 7th century AD. You will be able to see amazing mosaics and frescoes and the famous water-running and heating system with clay pipes. Anyone who has seen it will tell you that it is one of the highlights of this place as you can really picture the lifestyle of the people in that period. In this section there are over 100 stairs so we do not recommend it for people with physical disabilities. It takes a minimum of 30 minutes to visit.
